We are a group of researchers with a passion for mobile software development and strong knowledge in human-computer interaction and sensor/actuator systems. We constitute the research group Mobile Interactive Systems, which consists of researchers with educational backgrounds in software engineering, mobile computing as well as media technology and design.

We conduct research projects with partners from industry and academia to develop and evaluate novel interaction techniques, applications and services with mobile devices like smartphones, tablet computers, smart watches and pico projectors. Since 2010, we have been working on a range of research topics in this area. Our research interests include especially the interaction between mobile devices and interactive surfaces, pen and paper interfaces, handheld augmented reality, context-aware computing, adaptive user interfaces as well as prototyping and usability testing of mobile applications. The group’s research activities have been mainly conducted as part of research projects funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), the European Commission and partners from industry.

The research group Mobile Interactive Systems is part of the Department of Mobility & Energy of the School of Informatics, Communications and Media at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria in Hagenberg. The close cooperation with the university allows us to integrate education and research by providing both undergraduate and graduate students the possibility to carry out projects in the research group as part of their studies. This is especially the case for students working on their bachelor’s or master’s thesis, who can contribute to industrial and academic projects under the guidance of the group’s research staff.

If you want to learn more about our research activities, or if you are looking for a project partner in the above areas, please do not hesitate to contact us.
